The Excitement
I am now waiting for a delivery date and I was given a rough
date of mid to late April 2020 but then a global pandemic hits and amongst the
lockdowns and working from home the motoring press report of car production
lines closing and yes, the e-Tron was affected.
So, I took to YouTube and soon found I should have done my
homework on YouTube first. I started watching e-Tron reviews and what a mixed
bunch, I must have watched about 100 reviews over two weeks and my conclusion
was the e-Tron was a good car but a bad EV? This did not affect my view too
much, I knew the range would more than fit my needs.
What this form of research did was to open the EV world for
me and I started to watch Channels like “Fully Charged”, “Bjørn Nyland” and “Electric
Vehicle Man”.
If you are thinking of dipping your toe into possibly moving
to an EV, I would say get on YouTube and do your homework.
For me watching these videos turned me from a person interested
in giving an EV a go, to being completely convinced I have made the right move.
Now I was desperate to get my hands on the car and start the
EV experience for myself.
In April subscribed to a channel called “The PlugSeeker” on
YouTube and in turn followed the channel on Twitter for updates.
To my surprise The PlugSeeker himself direct messaged me to
give thanks for the follow and we started chatting on line. He gave me some
great advice on what apps to use and how to plan a long journey. Just being able
to chat to an experienced EV driver just helped to build my confidence.
At this point I was given a rough delivery date of late June
2020.
